About the Artist:
Margaret Holmes
I have been painting for many years in
a variety of media including arylics, watercolors, pen and ink, and silk
dyes.
A love of color and light in nature are my inspiration.
I have exhibited and sold my work in many countries. including: United
States, Canada, England, Spain and the Caribbean.
After seeing beautiful work on cotton in clothing and hangings in the
Caribbean I began to take an interest in working on fabrics. With a background
in drawing and painting, I worked to develop techinques to blend beautiful
colors in a realistic style of painting with fabric dyes on silk and
on pareos in cotton and rayon. Through sales, my works on silk have traveled
to many countries including Ireland, England, France, Italy, Australia,
and
of course around the United States and Canada.
I am a member of the Eastern Shore Art
League and I belond to Silk Painters International. Recently I joined
some of these painters in exhibing my framed art work
on silk at the
Smithsonian, in a conjunction with The Orchid Express Show in 2005
